My mom was born on January 11, 1942 to a young Polish couple Joseph & Wanda Zelek and was the oldest of three daughters Judy (12/1942 ~ 5/31/60) and Joanne (8/17/45 ~ 4/23/94) she was surrounded by a LARGE extended family from Babcis, aunts, uncles, cousins and more cousins... She lived in the Ironbound Section of Newark, New Jersey... she was loved by many... She was an excellent student, had top honors in High School and was the Queen of her Prom... She lost her mom at the young age of 15...
At the age of 17 she met my dad and fell in love...at the young age of 18 she was married to Thomas Michael Haveron but with this happiness came another tradgey her sister Judy passed away... Then I came along and she was a mother at the age of 18 and again at the age of 19 my brother Tommy was born... They were a perfect little family of four, but in 1963 the Lord took my father to bee with him... so at the young age of 21 she was a widow and a mother of two young children..
You see my mom was a very strong girl/woman...who went through so much before she reach the age of 22. But she had it in her HEART that this was not going to stop her from being the perfect and most loving mom there ever was... She was a beautiful girl with brown curly wavey hair & beautiful brown eyes & as thin as can be... She had style and she had class... She loved her dad and sister Joanne so very much and they were with her to her dying day... And she loved her Brother In Law Raymond too who she use to have coffee with and long talks... She especially loved my dad's parents Ann & John and all of her brother in laws & sister in laws too (Patti, John, Jimmy & Maryann) She love spending time with them on my grandparent's farm... and she had many friends too... she loved her pets, she loved to decorate and BINGO too ...she took us to many places with my grandfather from Niagara Falls, to Florida to the "Land of Make Believe"...
But you see she became sick with cancer in October of 1967 and it was only six months later that she went to be with God.... I remember vividly all the times we went to visit her in the hospital at Sloane Kettering and I can still remember seeing the Twin Towers being built as we went by to visit... I remember how at the end I was afraid of going by her because of how she look... I guess you can say I must have known she wasn't going to bee with us much longer...she tried everything that she could with the medical world so that she could spend more time here on earth with my brother & I... and yes I remember today 43 years ago like it was yesterday it's never left my memory...
So for the short time that she was here with us, she left a remarkable spot in our hearts...I know that she ia not suffering anymore and she is watching us from up above... and that her love radiates down to us... She truly is the "Wind Beeneath My Wings" just like her sister Joanne my Auntie is to me too... Yes ~ it is true, the pain lessens but the LOVE is here to stay forever and a day...
This is all told by the memory of a little girl of the age of seven who knows that her mommy is in heaven... and she see things like a "Heart" etched in the floor of her home she knows that it was sent from heaven above to tell her how much she is loved...
Have a honey of a night ~ sweet dreams
Love, Marlene
